At Camp Concepts, we believe summer camps are all  about creating impactful and unforgettable camp experiences that shape the lives of our campers and staff.  We call these " M & M Moments" or memorable & meaningful moments.

Founded by Steve Haines, Camp Concepts has been a highly repsected mainstay in Bucks county day camps for over 30 years!

Steve's professional background as a middle school teacher for over 25 years, and his tenure as director of the George School Summer Day Camp for 14 years, perfectly prepared him to create the innovative programs of Camp Concepts aimed at positive child development and growth.   His passion for creating camp experiences that are full of memorable & meaninful moments, is what has made Camp Concepts a noted and respected camp education business for many years.

Beyond Camp Concepts, Steve also formed Advantage-USA which handles his international business ventures including HORIZONS USA– a summer language experience for International students, international educational consulting for those seeking admission to private schools in the United States,  as well as Teacher Training Seminars he has lead throughout China and in Uganda.

In addition, Steve has authored two books 'The Art of Facilitation: Discovery of the Group Growth Process' based on his teacher training course, and "Lessons In Leadership: An Art In The Making."

Steve's experience as an educator led him to form Immersive Education Associates- an education technology consulting firm that provides solutions to enhanced distance learning tools including Virtual, Augmented  & Mixed Reality technology.

His role as the C.O.O. of Global Connections Foundation, an NGO empowering Kenyan people to greater self-reliance through entrepreneurship and education, further showcases his dedication to global education and the empowerment of others.

Steve is married to Ruth and together have five children and five grandchildren. His vision, drive by decades of experience, ensures that Camp Concepts provides the best summer camps for kids, focusing on safety, education, and community-building.  If you are looking for an established, respected, and trusted Bucks County day camp, Camp Concepts looks forward to welcoming your family into ours.

Our Leadership Team

About the Camp Concepts Leadership Team

An essential strength of any summer camp lies in its leadership.  Camp Concepts, proudly  educator-owned and operated, boasts over 210 years of combined teacher and camp experience among its top administrative leaders!

The passion and expertise of the Camp Concepts' leadership team helps set them apart.  Every member understands the profound impact camp can have on a child's development, and is fully committed to creating an enriching summer camp program that is not only fun but also a physically and emotionally safe place for individual growth.   This is what has made Camp Concepts one of the best camp programs in the entire region.

Steve Haines-Executive Director

Steve Haines has devoted his career to working with children and building exceptional camp communities. With over 30 years of camp leadership experience, Steve spent 22 years at George School Day Camp — serving as director for 14 of those years — before founding Camp Concepts in the late 1990s.

Steve's classroom experience spans more than 20 years at Newtown Friends School and Plumstead Christian School, where he taught and coached at the middle school level. That deep educational background is what makes Camp Concepts different — Steve doesn't just run a camp, he designs programs the way a master educator would.

Steve holds a B.S. in Education and a Master's degree in History.

Steve Bernardini - assistant executive director

Steve Bernardini brings over 40 years of teaching, coaching, and camp leadership experience to the Camp Concepts team. As Assistant Executive Director, Steve is a beloved cornerstone of the Big Oak community — known affectionately as 'Steve B' by campers and families alike.

Steve and Steve Haines first worked together at George School Day Camp, where they built one of the region's most respected day camp programs over 30 years. Steve B's classroom career as a math, science, and PE teacher and coach at Buckingham Friends School gave him an extraordinary foundation for understanding how children learn, grow, and thrive in a camp environment.

Beyond camp, Steve is our resident nature enthusiast and animal expert — a passion that brings an authentic energy to our outdoor programming and nature activities.

Now enjoying his retirement from the classroom, Steve B continues to pour his heart into the Big Oak community every summer.

Steve is married and is the father of two grown children.  Steve is also the grandfather to three.
